How to create YouTube thumbnails

Headshotly’s YouTube Thumbnail Generator lets you create professional, clickable thumbnails in minutes using your own AI model. You can either write your own script or clone an existing YouTube video’s style.

Step 1: Open the Thumbnail Generator

Step 2: Choose Your Model

Select the AI face model you want to appear in your thumbnails.

If you don’t have one yet, go to My Models → Create Model and train it first.

Step 3: Pick a Generation Mode

Choose how you want to generate your thumbnail:

Custom Script

Write your own video title or short script. The AI will design thumbnails based on your input.

Clone YouTube

Paste a YouTube video URL, and the AI will recreate the layout and tone from that video’s thumbnail.

Step 4: Adjust Your Settings

Step 5: Describe Your Thumbnail

Use the text box to describe your video or desired thumbnail concept.

Example:

“How I built my startup in 90 days - bright colors, surprised expression, text on the left.”

You can also add creative direction such as:

“Bold typography, clean background, cinematic style, MrBeast-like layout.”

Step 6: Generate Your Thumbnails

  • Click the Generate button

  • The AI will create several thumbnail variations based on your input

  • Wait a few moments - you’ll see the results on the right side of your screen

Step 7: Review and Download

  • Browse your generated thumbnails

  • Click the Download button to save your favourites

  • All saved thumbnails will also appear under My Collection

Tips for Better Results

  • Use short, catchy titles

  • Add strong expressions or eye contact in your AI model

  • Keep background simple - focus on emotion & contrast

  • Use “Clone YouTube” to match popular creators’ visual styles
